NEWPORT / 0.9.0 BETA 1
Your data and this beta.
NewPort has no developer-operated analytics, advertising SDK, automatic feedback upload or automatic crash-reporting integration.
Stored on your Mac
- Projects and exports are stored where you save them. Linked charts and recordings may remain in their original locations.
- Beta preferences and recent-project paths are stored in the
dev.vcodeworks.NewPort.beta preference domain. - Recovery projects and recorded-track recovery use
~/Library/Application Support/NewPort Beta. - Downloaded imagery, charts and network caches use
~/Library/Caches/NewPort Beta, plus macOS-managed app caches. - Instrument server addresses and ports are saved locally. The optional Signal K access token is held for the session.
- macOS may create crash diagnostics according to your system settings.
Network connections
Map display and place search use Apple Maps. Selected locations, map areas, route samples, station identifiers and request metadata may be sent to the provider when you request online maps, forecasts, tides or ocean analysis. Public integrations use NOAA/NWS/NDBC, NOAA CoastWatch and NASA GIBS. Provider requests include your IP address and a NewPort user-agent. Configured alternative tile sources connect to their specified providers.
Instrument connections go to the Signal K/NMEA server or UDP feed you configure. NewPort scans mounted volumes for supported device/chart/recording metadata. It does not automatically send imported project files to the developer.
Feedback is your choice
The feedback form prepares an email to kevin@vcodeworks.dev. You review and send it using your email provider. Only your written report and basic app/macOS/architecture details are included automatically; any attachments are your choice. Review coordinates, vessel identifiers, paths and credentials before sharing. Your email service and the recipient’s email service handle the message.
To remove beta-local preferences/recovery/cache data, first save any work you want to retain and quit the beta. Deleting the app itself does not remove projects saved elsewhere.
